The Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company, Chicago, IL, has stopped shipping Surpass Antacid chewing gum. Surpass was introduced two years ago by the Wri­gley Healthcare Division as a functional gum providing heartburn relief. According to the company, the Surpass brand did not build the critical business mass required to sustain it for the long term. Costs associated with the pro­duct discontinuation will not be material to the Wrigley Company, and all business activities related to Surpass are expected to be completed by the end of May.
